Plains is currently looking to fill the position of Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader for our Fort Saskatchewan Facility. In this role, you will report to the Maintenance Manager and lead the Mechanical Maintenance group at the facility. This is an excellent opportunity for a leader who possesses solid mechanical knowledge of NGL processing operations and maintenance activities.
Permanent residency within 120 km of the Fort Saskatchewan facility is a condition of employment, and you must be able to work a compressed 10-hour shift.
Responsibilities:
- Work with facility stakeholders, including internal and external customers, to ensure strategies and work are aligned.
- Manage the hiring, orientation, performance, and career development of employees in a union environment.
- Provide strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring for personnel, building relationships through commitment, pride, honesty, and trust.
- Work with the Planning and Scheduling team to prioritize, co-ordinate, and schedule mechanical maintenance activities and ensure execution of any necessary corrective actions.
- Ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance per Plains’ Operations Management System (OMS) requirements.
- Lead the development / improvement of equipment condition monitoring programs using proactive maintenance concepts and techniques.
- Reinforce key performance indicators that support a disciplined approach to precision maintenance while ensuring highest standards of safety for our people and assets.
- Prioritize maintenance activities that align with Plains’ reliability and mechanical integrity programs.
- Achieve equipment availability and reliability targets set by facility Team Leads.
- Assist with continuous improvements to work management and execution.
- Assist with the development of critical spare parts and equipment lists.
- Oversee vendor management for area of responsibility.
- Control work and apply sound execution practices for area of responsibility.
- Develop and manage O&M and Capital budgets for area of responsibility.
Qualifications:
- Certified interprovincial journeyman in a Plains-relevant trade: Steamfitter/Pipefitter, Industrial Electrician, Instrumentation and Control Technician, Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), Heavy Duty Equipment Technician.
- 10+ years’ journeyman experience.
- 5 years’ formal leadership experience in an operating oil and gas facility.
- Extensive background in rotating equipment and support system maintenance (pumps, compressors, fans) considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance for process equipment, pressure vessels, and heaters.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives and work optimization.
- Ability to lead teams with diverse skill sets during periods of change and achieve results.
- Energetic, well-organized, and self-motivated with effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Motivated with a willingness to advance to greater challenges.
- Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of Maximo or relevant CMMS.
- Standard site qualifications: H2S Awareness, First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, CSE.
- Permanent residency within 120 km of Plains’ Fort Saskatchewan facility.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
- Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
- Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.
- Compliance with the Company’s requirement to be clean shaven to ensure proper fit of emergency PPE.
