About the team you are joining

The ICAO team is managing the interface between IATA and ICAO and as such conveys IATA’s position to the different ICAO bodies such as the ICAO Council, the Air Navigation Commission and its Technical Panels, Air Transport Panels, Secretariat study Groups, Divisional Meetings and Conferences.

What your day would be like
  1. Contribute to the formulation of IATA’s positions towards specific working bodies of ICAO, such as Panels of the Air Navigation Commission and Air Transport Committee, Secretariat study Groups, Divisional Meetings and Conferences to provide IATA input on the development of new aviation standards;
  2. Coordinate and jointly plan the participation of IATA staff from other Divisions in such ICAO working bodies to ensure that IATA inputs are coordinated and aligned with member airlines identified priorities;
  3. Provide support to IATA staff as well as Airline SMEs involved in ICAO meetings to ensure they have the means required for effective contribution;
  4. Participate directly on the work of ICAO bodies to which he/she is assigned to convey the IATA positions;
  5. Investigate technical matters and assist in the development of IATA’s positions;
  6. Consolidate IATA’s positions internally by interacting with the concerned Divisions;
  7. Support sharing awareness of ICAO provisions in the regions;
  8. Monitor the activities of ICAO Panels and Secretariat Study Groups, anticipate the potential impacts of proposed SARPs, policies and guidance material on operators, and provide advice to the Director Member & External Relations ICAO on the required actions;
  9. Monitor, coordinate participation and provide draft reports on ICAO levels 3 and 4 meetings as requested by Director Member & External Relations ICAO;
  10. Draft IATA’s internal reports on the ANC subsidiary entities activities, when designated as a participant;
  11. Compile reports produced by the IATA SMEs supporting ICAO panels, working groups and study groups in order to identify gaps on inter-panel coordination;
  12. Support the drafting of correspondence, communications and technical working papers with ICAO and other International Organizations, as requested;
  13. Provide support for SMEs representing IATA in ICAO panels, working groups and study groups.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  1. An accredited aviation related university bachelor’s degree (preferably graduate degree);
  2. A minimum of ten years experience in any of the following areas:
  • Licensed Air Transport Pilot (Captain);
  • Licensed Air Traffic Controller (Supervisor level, preferably Supervisor/Instructor);
  • Licensed Air Traffic Safety Electronic Personnel;
  • Airworthiness;
The candidate should also have:
  • Excellent communication skills, flexibility to adapt to the rapidly changing airline environment and a sound technological background;
  • Good understanding of Air Traffic Management concept and Air Navigation Infrastructure;
  • Excellent communication skills in English. Knowledge of an additional ICAO language (French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic or Chinese);
  • Comprehensive understanding of international contexts, can interpret regulations and anticipate impact on the industry;
  • Have strong negotiation and listening skills;
