Our Advanced Technology Group (ATG) is part of the EA SPORTS Technology organization, focusing on identifying and creating new, scalable technologies for game teams. We are looking for close collaboration with game teams, central art teams, and the Frostbite engine team; though the technologies developed can apply to many different engines, environments, and hardware platforms. You will work on our strategic, multi-year projects focused on improved creation pipelines and runtime functionality, both user-facing and internal, for all EA SPORTS titles.

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Technical Artist (TA), you will be heavily involved in the Sports Technology Character Initiatives that the ATG team is currently developing. The main areas of responsibilities include:

  • Development of technical prototypes in a data-driven game engine.
  • Asset integration/optimization.
  • Content production tools, pipelines, and workflows.
  • Ownership over any technical issues that arise on your projects and bringing them to resolution.
  • Collaboration with Software Engineers (ATG and Frostbite engine), the Character Content team, and our EA SPORTS Game Team partners to help ingest and hook up the content needed for our Character Initiatives.
Your Qualifications:
  • At least 5+ years of cinematic/games production experience.
  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in a related field.
  • Effective communication skills with different audiences: artists, engineers, managers.
  • Experience working and prototyping in data-driven game engines.
  • Proficient scripting/programming in Python or C#. (C++ is a bonus, but not required).
  • Experience with 2D/3D art packages such as Houdini, Maya, Substance, and Photoshop. Specifically building Houdini Digital Assets (HDA) and using Procedural Dependency Graphs (PDG) in a games pipeline is a bonus.
  • A solutions-provider, especially as it pertains to testing and debugging technical issues.
  • Experience with asset optimization challenges/techniques.
  • A willingness to jump into the unknown and solve new problems to resolve technical challenges and limitations.
  • A passion for games.
