The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA) provides leadership in health promotion, early detection, treatment and research for cancer at our two cancer centres, the Allan Blair Cancer Centre in Regina, and the Saskatoon Cancer Centre. Provincially, we provide services to around 10,000 patients annually and our radiation oncology services account for 2,400 patients annually. Our goal is to deliver safe, person-centric care; we value teamwork, and encourage colleagues to work together.
Our Radiation Therapy department delivers various types of radiation techniques, including:
- Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT)
- Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS)
- High dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy
- Pediatric radiation oncology
Both of our Cancer Centres use the following equipment for treatment delivery and planning:
- Varian linacs (mix of TrueBeams and iX)
- Siemens Confidence CT
- HDR Brachytherapy-Oncentra
- In-house 3D printing for clinical needs
The Radiation Therapist I prepares plans and delivers ionizing radiation treatments to cancer patients as prescribed by a Radiation Oncologist. The Radiation Therapist provides patient assessment and education for radiation treatment and side effects. The Radiation Therapist I reports to the Site Manager of Radiation Therapy and is directly supervised by a Radiation Therapist II.
All applicants must have a degree or diploma in Radiation Therapy, and a certification for Basic Life Saver (BLS)-C. Applicants must be eligible to be licensed with the Saskatchewan Association of Medical Radiation Technologists and hold membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists. No prior experience necessary.
The salary rage for the position is between $46.89 per hour and $53.58 per hour. Our clinical hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and our employees receive one Earned Day Off (EDO) every three weeks. Additionally, we offer financial reimbursement options for relocation expenses.
This position is based at either the: Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Ave, Regina, SK or Saskatoon Cancer Centre, 20 Campus Drive, Saskatoon, SK.
