HR Generalist - Fixed Term Contract (Maternity)

IPL is a global leading sustainable packaging solutions provider that manufactures specialty rigid packaging products used in the food, consumer, agricultural, logistics and environmental markets. We have over 2,500 colleagues in 20 manufacturing facilities, two corporate & sales offices and three R&D facilities across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Continental Europe, and China. IPL operates in a fast paced and dynamic environment and has significant growth plans, acquiring four businesses within the past year.

We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team on a fixed term contract to cover Maternity. The HR Generalist will manage all aspects of day to day HR requirements including staffing of the business, holiday management, payroll time and attendance, recruitment, and HR related matters. The post holder will work 08:30am – 17:00pm, Monday to Friday, flexibility will be required to fulfil the post. You are entitled to 30 minutes unpaid break per day. The Fixed Term Contract will run from September 2024 to June 2025.

Position Title: HR Generalist (Maternity Cover)

The successful candidate will:

  1. Provide counsel and support to managers/supervisors on issues of company/HR policy application, production operation Human Resource needs and provides HR services to team members.
  2. Work with operations to resolve employee relations issues. Investigate, counsel and assist in resolving disputes.
  3. Practice strong engagement with all team members including accepting diversity of ideas and thoughts, sharing responsibility for success, demonstrating honesty and integrity, helping employees solve problems and showing respect.
  4. Provide guidance on employment related issues.
  5. Facilitate HR processes and operations programs to ensure ethical, fair and consistent approach.
  6. Create and develop model for sustaining positive employee relations and positive culture building.
  7. Support the development and administration of programs, policies and processes to facilitate employee and organisational development.
  8. Provide counselling and direction to employees, facilitate communication, and help to resolve conflicts that impact employee engagement.
  9. Support recruiting efforts and participate in the planning and execution of activities and events to fill all open positions in the assigned area.
  10. Conduct pre-employment screenings and facilitate onboarding when needed.
  11. Assist with the organisation's performance management process by coaching, educating, and providing feedback to managers/supervisors.
  12. Provide HR support to operations safety programs, initiatives and processes including return to work and coordination of workers compensation programs.
  13. Work closely with HR colleagues at a UK Divisional level and with IPL Group HR functions to deliver key projects and initiatives that nurture a positive and engaging culture and build high performing teams.
  14. Role model the IPL Values.
  15. Work alongside the Plant Director and management team to drive business results and ensure the right people are in the right roles.
  16. Alongside the Plant Director, lead site employee communications to ensure our people are engaged, aware of the business performance, site priorities and other key activities or changes.
  17. Manage day to day HR activities (onboarding and offboarding of employees, management of all recruitment activities including temp agency workers, maintaining employee files, ensuring data accuracy and maintenance of employee records on our ERP system).
  18. Produce HR reports when required including headcount, overtime, attendance etc.
  19. Ensure all employees are informed of and follow local HR policies and procedures.
  20. Manage all employee relations and disciplinary matters.
  21. Oversee annual HR processes including performance management and pay planning for hourly and salaried staff.
  22. Key role in leading and delivering on several people and organisation imperatives including employee communications and engagement, leadership and talent development.
  23. Perform other assignments as directed.
  24. Possess a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources management or related field: Required (combination of relevant work experience and education considered).
  25. Alternatively, possess four to six years progressive Human Resource professional experience. HR certification preferred.
  26. Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  27. Proficient in MS Office (Word, PPT, Excel) and HRIS systems.
  28. Strong problem solving, relationship building and collaboration skills. Effective persuasive and presentations skills. Highly effective interpersonal skills. Highly organised. Professional and proactive in resolving issues.
