Director of Software Development

  • Duration: Full-Time, Permanent

  • Salary: $140k - $170k + Bonus/ Benefits


Position Overview

Hammehr Talent Consultants are currently working with an innovative and fast growth insuretech startup to help recruit a Director of Software Development. This role involves leading a diverse team of 10-15 software developers and managing multiple projects to deliver high-quality software solutions. The Director of Software Development will oversee project delivery, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement in development practices.


What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Lead a team of software developers, managing both onshore and offshore resources.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to executive management and broader teams.
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise to identify and implement corrective measures that enhance product quality.
  • Promote best practices and foster an environment of continuous learning and improvement in software development.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and advocate for their adoption to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Align team priorities with company goals, driving strategic initiatives within the organization.
  • Hire, mentor, and retain top talent, ensuring the team possesses the skills needed to meet strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management and Architecture, to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Maintain budget oversight for project expenses and recognize team contributions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and engagement within the development team.
  • Drive improvements in software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes to boost efficiency and productivity.
  • Support the client base by working closely with the support team to address any technical challenges.


Basic Requirements (Must Have)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, manage performance, and drive successful project outcomes.
  • Experience managing complex software development projects from planning through delivery.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and containerization.
