Job Title: Electrical/Electronics Engineer

Location: Burlington, ON (New Office Location)

Company: Soneil Electronics

Reports to: Head of Research and Development

Soneil Electronics:

Soneil Electronics is a global leader in designing and supplying battery chargers, power supplies, and batteries to markets worldwide. With offices across North America, Europe, and Asia, Soneil Electronics is expanding its focus into sustainable energy solutions, particularly green energy systems. As part of this growth, we are excited to introduce a new product in the green energy market and are seeking an Electrical/Electronics Engineer to help drive these innovations.

Position Overview:

Soneil Electronics is looking for an Electrical/Electronics Engineer to join our team in Burlington, ON, and support our expanding efforts in the green energy market. This newly created role will involve a combination of electronic design, system installation, and hands-on troubleshooting. As an Electrical/Electronics Engineer, you will contribute directly to the design, testing, and implementation of green energy systems. You will work closely with the Head of Research and Development to ensure the successful deployment of electrical components such as inverters, batteries, and wiring in solar systems.

The role includes both design and installation responsibilities, including troubleshooting, hardware debugging, and system testing. In addition to working in a lab environment, you will be involved in testing, installing and maintaining systems outdoors. Outdoor work will make up 25-30% of your role, and you will need to work in various weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.). The position requires someone who is adaptable, able to manage multiple tasks, and thrives in a dynamic work environment where priorities and deadlines can shift. You should also be comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds and using hand tools in physically demanding environments.

The successful candidate will have a background in electrical/electronics design and product development and be willing to apply their skills to the installation and maintenance of green energy systems. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who enjoys both hands-on work and technical problem-solving in a rapidly growing sector.

Key Requirements:

• 5+ years of related work experience, ideally in small teams and as a sole contributor.

• Degree or diploma in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.

• Self-directed and able to take full ownership of tasks, proactively identifying and solving issues before they arise.

• Detail-oriented and comfortable starting work with incomplete information.

• Expertise in mixed analog and digital designs, and low- and high-voltage designs, including EMI/EMC challenges.

• Proficient in hardware debugging in a lab environment.

• Comfortable working with embedded code (C, C++).

• Proficient in communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, I2C, MODBUS, CANBUS, and RS485.

• Familiarity with Battery Management Systems (lithium batteries).

• Understanding of various battery chemistries (lithium, gel, flooded, AGM).

• Familiarity with battery charging protocols (DIN, ISO).

• Strong understanding or willingness to learn how to install electrical components.

• Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.).

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and use hand tools effectively.

• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision and thrive in a dynamic environment.

• Experience with product development, including research, planning, prototyping, and iteration.

• Adaptability to changing deadlines and project requirements.

• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

• Ability to research and develop new products and meet deadlines.

• Experience with rapid iteration.
