Ideal Candidate Background, Skills, and Attributes
  1. Completion of a University degree in Civil Engineering.
  2. Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.Eng.).
  3. Minimum 5 to 7 years of progressive related experience within a professional services environment.
  4. Project management experience; Demonstrated ability for, and interest in, business development.
  5. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with clients and other relevant stakeholders.
  6. Thorough knowledge in Municipal Engineering including policies, regulations, guidelines and operational procedures.
  7. Demonstrated experience in preliminary and detail design work with proven solid design capabilities.
  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  9. Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and ability to think creatively.
  10. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
  11. Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Assisting other intermediate and senior staff with engineering design on a variety of projects.
  2. Monitoring industry standards and developments, assessing client needs and making concrete decisions on proposed solutions.
  3. Monitoring project financial performance and invoicing clients promptly.
  4. Being a resource for municipal roadway design standards for other internal teams/disciplines.
  5. Participating in the preparation of engineering services proposals.
  6. Preparing technical designs, specifications and reports for a variety of municipal projects.
  7. Maintaining control of the schedule to ensure we deliver by agreed-upon due dates.
  8. Advancing projects through the concept, design, and construction phases, managing existing clients, and developing new clients.
  9. Design and design assistance and support to other Project Managers on project delivery.
  10. Liaising with clients, government and/or regulatory bodies as well as contractors.
  11. Maintaining positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
