We are currently looking for a Safety Coordinator to join our team.

- Responsible for incident management, including prevention (e.g. hazard assessments and management), first response and corrective action.
- Also responsible for communicating any incidents to Corporate Office.
- Immediately report any unsafe acts, conditions or accidents to management.
- Monitor and provide direction with the start-up and shut-down of sites.
- Audit areas to ensure compliance of Company standards.
- Manage preventative programs in line with legislation and Company requirements, e.g. fire management.
- Identify improvement opportunity by monitoring workplace injuries and incidents and develop action plans.
- Responsible for the management of records and documentation related to OHS&E within the division.
- Assist in the management of the Drug and Alcohol Program as required for testing and post-incident situations.
- Send monthly statistics to Senior Management and Corporate Office (mileage, orientations etc.).
- Assist with inspections for fire prevention equipment and other safety and first aid supplies.
- Ensure accuracy and relevance with continuous improvement through review and development of policies and procedures.
- Ensure awareness, engagement and compliance of employees and managers.
- Support the safety team with administrative duties.
- Track training certificates and metrics.
- Prepare reports or special project data.
- Assist the administration of the Corporate Vehicle Program including reviewing driver’s abstracts and traffic violations.
- Assist in maintaining COR certification.
- Assist in upkeep of third-party auditing systems.
- Manage the Sub-Contractor safety program documentation.
- Conduct new employee orientation, including reviewing company policies and procedures.
- Conduct gap analysis, organize training, conduct training and continually update training matrix.
- Chair safety committee meetings monthly. Minutes and agenda.
- Effectively communicate and coordinate safety issues/dialogues with government agencies, medical representatives etc.
- Maintain confidentiality in dealing with employee records and business information.
- Maintain knowledge of all applicable OHS, CSA, ANSI, OSHA standards and administrative practices.
- Ensure compliance to laws and regulations at Federal, Provincial and Municipal as well as Corporate levels.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Professional, approachable and excellent customer service skills.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to engage and influence individuals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant governmental regulations.
- Understanding of practical systems and operational business aspects.
- Completion of Grade 12 or GED.
- Completion of NCSO is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements is considered an asset.
- Experience in a Health and Safety role, usually evidenced by 3 years of experience.
- Experience with compliance and management system audits is an asset.
- Knowledge in maintenance and service work is considered an asset.
- Experience working in the construction industry is an asset.
- Experience with ISN, Avetta, and Comply works. Must be certified as an auditor.
- Must have experience writing safety plans, and Emergency response plans.
- Class 5 Drivers license.
- Travel to various jobsites is required.
- Valid Passport and able to travel.
