Summer Student, Internal Audit

Job Responsibilities:
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Summer Student, Internal Audit will assist in the performance of independent internal audits related to Financial, Compliance, IT, and various other business activities to ensure that established policies and procedures are followed, and operational and financial standards are met. Internal Audit functions as a collaborative and supportive environment that can assist with your growth, both professionally and personally.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform financial, compliance, and other audit activities within specified time periods.
Clearly document procedures performed and the results, including control deficiencies, to departmental standards.
Create and maintain audit files.
Evaluate audit results to determine the quality and effectiveness of internal operating policies, internal controls, regulatory requirements, administrative procedures, and reporting practices.
Identify gaps in internal controls and provide recommendations for improvements where necessary.
Use Internal Audit databases to aid in the writing of reports and archiving of audit results.
Perform research and prepare pre-audit files and background materials on auditees to ensure focused, efficient, and effective engagement execution.
Other duties as assigned from time to time by Internal Audit department management.
KNOWLEDGE / EDUCATION:
Preference given to a student majoring in accounting or finance.
Currently enrolled in college or university.
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:
Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including advanced Excel skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as listening skills.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within established deadlines.
Ability to work efficiently within a team, as well as individually.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work with sensitive data and maintain confidentiality.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Typical office environment.
Ability to do overnight travel Monday through Friday for a couple of weeks during the summer.
