We are looking for a Sr. Data Engineer Power BI Developer who will help us in the design, development, automation and maintenance of our Business Data Models and ETL processes for data analytics and reporting. You will be helping our business customers build a representative Business Data Model that accurately represents their business. You will also help in building ETL pipelines to ingest the data from multiple sources into the data warehouse. You should have excellent communication skills and strong business acumen and be able to work with our Data Insight and Advanced Analytics (DIAA) team to understand the data requirements and help the team in delivering solutions using your analytical skills, ETL knowledge and experience. This role may also require you to build automations and business reports using Microsoft Power Platform tools such as, Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate.
Responsibilities
- Develop Business Data Models in a combination of Microsoft Fabric (Synapse Notebooks, SQL, DAX), Azure Databricks and other technologies.
- Design and develop data analytics visualizations enabled by Microsoft Power BI reports and Dashboards (Operational, Strategic & Analytical) including data set ingestion and transformation, Data Modeling, Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) using the appropriate report templates depicting status of key performance indicators (KPIs) and other important business metrics for an organization to make data driven decisions.
- Support the Microsoft Applications and Business Hyper-Automation teams with development needs around Microsoft Power Platform, i.e. Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI.
- Support the “Data Insight and Advanced Analytics” (DIAA) team by building reliable data pipelines from multiple data sources (structured and unstructured).
- Develop Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes by writing ETL scripts in Python, Databricks and T-SQL to deliver the data sets required for BI Reporting and Advanced Analytics.
- Connect gaps and patterns across business and technology areas, drives changes and improvements to existing tools, technologies, and/or processes that enable solutions to scale across NAES Corporate and subsidiaries.
- Create detailed documentation and justify proposed solutions in relation to system and business improvements, upgrades, third party integrators, reporting enhancements, security, and workflows.
- Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate and execute tasks with internal and external project team members that exceed expectations.
- Provide periodic status reports and accurate estimates and timelines of work in collaboration with the associated project manager.
- Continually learn industry best practices and demonstrate that knowledge in the delivery of our proposed internal solutions.
Education:
- Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems, or similar field is required; equivalent work experience will be considered. Master's degree is preferred.
Requirements:
- 7+ years’ of data engineering and support experience, including Power BI.
- Fully versed and experienced with the Project Lifecycle including design, build, testing, deployment and the key touchpoints of the support team with project efforts and activities.
- Strong hands-on expertise in T-SQL, Python, Databricks and Visual Studio.
- Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) or strong interest in learning and enhancing the skills in these tools.
- Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics Applications Suite is a plus.
- Ability to prioritize, coordinate, and communicate work, as well as status of work.
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving ability.
- Excellent communication, relationship skills and a strong team player.
- Intellectually curious and willing to learn.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced and ambiguous environment.
