About the role
On-site | Full-time
The Login/Logistics Supervisor is responsible for Sample Receipt, Login and Shipping.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct supervision of all Login/Logistics staff (including training, mentoring, performance management, career development, recruitment, induction etc.); as well as assignment of duties;
- Ensure that bottle shipments, samples and login of work orders are entered accurately and in a timely manner;
- Oversee all intercompany liaison between receiving and processing laboratories;
- Under manager’s direction help investigate client enquiries and complaints related to quality issues and suggest proactive actions;
- Oversee client contact regarding missing, incomplete or ambiguous sample processing instructions by close liaison with layout personnel, work order entry, and client services groups;
- Assist with any communication and request from other ALS entities and support such as Finance, HR, HSE, purchasing, etc.
- Manage local purchasing and order of supplies and inventory for both the laboratory and facility including approval of purchase MEOL requests;
- Oversee all receiving and associated documentation and recordkeeping such as waybills, invoices, packing slips;
- Assist in the preparation of capital expenditure proposals, budgets, and business plans;
- Ensure that all Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to;
- Provide orientation and coordinate general training for all staff;
- Assist with recruitment and training of laboratory staff as required;
- Assist in any human resource administration functions;
- Under the direction of the Customer Service Manager, carry out schedules, shifts and manage timekeeping for staff;
- Assist the Customer Service Manager in the oversight and management of the HSE and Quality Systems;
- Oversee any facility, contractor, repair services and communication with suppliers, property owners, etc.;
- Oversee the maintenance and use of all support office equipment;
- Organize and maintain all document and electronic archive systems;
- Other duties as assigned.
About you:
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, organizational and communication skills;
- Experience in training staff an asset;
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management System is preferred;
- Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal;
- Highly motivated and able to work as part of a team;
- Detail oriented.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of Post-secondary education (degree, certificate or diploma);
- Minimum 2 years work experience in an environmental laboratory setting preferred;
- Minimum 1 year leadership or supervision experience;
Physical Demands:
- Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
- Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;
- Ability to stand for a full shift;
- Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
- You may be exposed to unpleasant odours;
- Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and may require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.
