The Planner is responsible to develop detailed plans and work packages containing all resources, duration’s, special tooling, materials, equipment requirements and procedures for small cap construction. The Planner is also the focal point for detailing resource and material requirements for all added work carried out during the execution of construction services.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare the detailed execution plan and work package file for each construction project within their assigned area of responsibility. Work packages must include labour estimates, craft sequences, activity codes, material lists, specialty tools and equipment, all drawings, P&ID’s, procedures, network logic, bill of materials and appropriate work order numbers. Each Planner is responsible to interface with Operations Technicians, Construction Leads, Operations Coordinators, Inspections and Engineering to acquire the information necessary to prepare a work package that will efficiently detail the work scope.
- Work with the Materials Coordinator to acquire and manage all maintenance materials and services required for construction.
- Work with the Completion Team to develop the appropriate priorities for all procedures based on commissioning start date.
- Keep the Construction Lead & Construction Supt. continually apprised of planning progress and any issues that may affect their ability to complete work packages on time.
- In conjunction with Inspections, develop all necessary Quality Control documentation required by the plan.
- Assist in developing and management of the necessary control procedures (e.g. work package review / approval, progress reporting, additional work etc.).
- Create file storage of all completed and revised planning sheets.
- Identify and incorporate the necessary maintenance / safe work procedures and all training requirements (e.g. blinding procedure, permitting, confined space entry, equipment operation training etc.).
- Assist Foreman and Supervisors with work package reviews as required.
- Assist the Scheduler in schedule development as required.
- Assist in work coordination as required during execution of construction.
- Measure their planning progress and report status weekly to the Scheduler.
- In conjunction with Engineering, issue and receive all work package documentation necessary to carry out the work and record "as-built" status.
- Participate in all Safety Program requirements e.g. scheduled audits
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education and/or a technical trade experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a maintenance planner or coordinator.
- Knowledge of maintenance techniques and best practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and decision-making skill.
- Willing to support and work in a team environment.
- Safety conscious individual who understands and demonstrates safe work practices.
