What You Can Anticipate

When you join Terracon, you'll embark on a journey where your skills and expertise will flourish. You'll engage in a wide array of geological and geoscience projects that span from dynamic open-pit mining environments to vital municipal work sites. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the socio-economic growth and development of McMurray Métis Local 1938 through projects with Terracon Infinity, an Indigenous joint venture between Terracon Geotechnique Ltd and Infinity Métis Corporation.

These roles are full-time, field-based positions that require a deep alignment with Terracon's core values: Safety, Integrity, Teamwork, and Entrepreneurism (S.I.T.E.). Our opportunities are based locally in Fort McMurray.


Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Collect ground and surface water samples
  • Ensure proper storage and transportation of samples
  • Monitor water levels and quality
  • Record observations and maintain high-quality field notes
  • Maintain monitoring equipment
  • Data entry
  • Inventory management
  • Pay rate will be $28.00 to $33.00 per hour depending on work experience

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degree/Diploma in Water Resource Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Earth Science or an equivalent combination of education and field training
  • 1 + years of experience in a technical field-base role, considered an asset
  • Aptitude to listening and responding appropriately to the needs of clients and employees
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, for themselves and co-workers
  • Ability to operate an Argo considered an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a schedule
  • Strong commitment to safety, knowledge of safety regulations and experience in implementing safety procedures on oil sands projects

Working Conditions, Schedule, and Physical Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada on an ongoing basis
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and 2 years experience in the industry field
  • Working schedule is anticipated to be Monday to Friday, 8 to 10 hours, depending on workload requirements
  • Physical ability to perform field work as required. A fitness for work test will be performed before hiring
  • Successfully complete a drug & alcohol test
