Cantiro is expanding operations and is looking for an experienced Site Superintendent with experience in Multi-family Mid Rise construction.

Working under the supervision of the Director of Construction, Multi-Family, the Superintendent directs subcontractors and other construction personnel to complete our multi-family townhomes up to mid rise projects on time, on budget and without any deficiencies. The Superintendent will be responsible but not limited to the following:

Role and Responsibilities

Site Management

  • Work with the project management team, clients, trade contractors and consultants to create a successful project framework.
  • Provide leadership to Site Assistants that results in a safe work culture, and responsible for the safety of crews under their direction.
  • Maintain a safe job site and ensure that the requirements of the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Regulations are enforced.
  • Complete daily Project Hazard Assessment and send to the Safety Department weekly.
  • Schedule all necessary trade work proactively, giving proper notice to all parties.
  • Oversee the execution of the work, including quality and productivity, by ensuring that the crews work to project specifications and schedule.
  • Monitor and maintain the project construction schedule on a daily basis.
  • Review project drawings and specifications independently and with trade contractors to proactively find conflicts and recommend resolutions to Project Manager and Consultants.
  • Identify needs and deficiencies in the plan/schedule and communicate these to the appropriate persons.
  • Identify, verify and report any scheduling conflicts with other crews and contractors, to the appropriate persons.
  • Translate general work requirements into a prioritized work plan for each crew.
  • Liaise with AHJ's, Consultants and their Inspectors to ensure work is reviewed and approved, to match requested hold points and milestones, before being covered up.
  • Review inspection reports and manage deficiency resolutions.
  • Raise and discuss relevant issues and proposed solutions at routine job site progress and safety coordination meetings.
  • Maintain control and responsibility for the security of company's materials and operation of equipment on the job site.
  • Control and monitor labour, material and rental expenses.
  • Ensure "as built" drawings are prepared on an ongoing basis by all trades during the construction period.
  • Coordinate all required municipal and utility inspections.
  • Support and participate in monthly safety reviews, reports and then close-out any issues.
  • Manage a minimum of one development site and potentially provide support on additional sites as required based on demands and capacity.

Sales / Clients Interactions

  • Coordinate with Sales and Marketing Teams and Project Manager to finalize home plans and options.
  • Conduct walk throughs to ensure plan specifications and quality expectations at both rough in and cabinet stage are met.
  • Professionally communicate with both internal and external team members and clients.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • First Aid Qualified
  • CSTS certificate
  • Clean Class 5 Drivers License

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of Residential construction and site management experience, with demonstrated experience in managing wood framed mid-rise multi family projects.
  • Previous experience of an underground parkade with 6-storey wood framing structure is considered a requirement.
  • Custom home construction experience is an asset.
  • Industry related education is an asset.
  • Must work well in an environment with a sense of urgency, an ability to delegate and make judgment calls while meeting standards of quality and service.
  • Strong ability to multitask, be proactive and detail oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Self-motivated and ability to problem solve
  • Basic understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • MS Project and Home Front experience is an asset
  • Comfortable working with technology
  • Work with minimal supervision
