What Does a Powder Coating Technician Do?

The Powder Coater is responsible for the overall quality and effective running of the powder coating process. They are a motivated, detail-oriented individual who enjoys teamwork. You ensure production runs smoothly by:

  • Understanding and complying with all Company Quality/Safety policies, procedures and rules and carrying out all activities including the operation of any machinery in a safe, responsible manner.
  • Ensure proper training has been received before undertaking any job.
  • Ensuring that all required and appropriate PPE be always worn.
  • Material handling and the prep required before and after application.
  • Apply powder to the sufficient coating level for a quality finish.
  • Run the ovens/monitor baking process to ensure proper adherence of coating.
  • Oversee and troubleshoot any coating issues during the process.
  • Complete QC checks on all product to ensure a high-quality finish.
  • Communicate suggestions for improvements to the supervisor.
  • Maintain the pace of the line to ensure that the process stays on schedule.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment within your workspace.

What Qualifications Do We Look For?

  1. Valid forklift ticket is an asset.
  2. WHMIS 2015 Certification.
  3. Able to work in a hot environment and be physically fit.
  4. Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage multiple orders simultaneously.
  5. Excellent problem-solving ability with strong attention to detail and precision.
  6. Ability to communicate technical information clearly and interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
