As a Power Engineering Student working at our Albian or Horizon Oil Sands sites, or our Jackfish and Kirby Thermal sites, you will become a part of a team that manages the day-to-day requirements associated with plant operations. In this role, you will gain your required steam time, exposure to an oil industry environment, training that will be highly beneficial towards your Power Engineering program and you will receive mentorship and coaching from an experienced operations team, to help develop your career.
Oil Sands:
- Term length: 4 month or 6 month
- Term start: January, May, July, or September 2025
- Job locations: Fort McMurray, Alberta - Oil Sands Sites: Albian & Horizon
- Shift schedule: 7 Days On, 7 Days Off, 7 Nights On, & 7 Days Off (12 Hour Shifts)
- Safety sensitive position: Yes (Pre-Screening A&D test required)
Thermal:
- Term length: 4 Month or 6 Month
- Term start: January, May, July, or September
- Job locations: Conklin, Alberta - SAGD Sites: Jackfish 1, 2, & 3. Kirby North & South
- Shift schedule: 8 Days on, 6 Days Off, 8 Nights On, 6 Days off (12 Hour Shifts)
- First & Last Day are ½ Days
- Safety sensitive position: Yes (Pre-Screening A&D test required)
Key Accountabilities:
- Monitor the unit to ensure all production rates are achieved and maintained
- Assist in daily rounds and routines associated with all steam generators
- Learn the layout, purpose and operating parameters of your designated area
- Assist Operators in the preparation and maintenance of equipment
- Participate in safety programs and maintain a safe work environment
What You Bring to The Role:
- Currently enrolled in a Power Engineering Technologist Program
- Familiar with Microsoft Office programs
- Physically fit and able to work in extremes of temperature
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (including GDL) with a reasonably clean driver’s abstract
- Demonstrate a mechanical aptitude
