The OpportunityWe are seeking a Process Safety Engineer to join our team in Calgary, AB. In this role, you will direct and coordinate risk control efforts including process safety engineering and loss prevention activities. The focus is on engineered safety - assessing technical process and engineering risks to protect against losses. You will work closely with multi disciplinary engineers, project teams, and operational representatives.Key AccountabilitiesProvide day to day support to engineering and operating teams in process safety management and fire protection engineeringCategorize process safety events in hazardous classifications by calculating dischargesLead, facilitate, and participate in process hazard analyses such as HAZOPsAssist with hazard identification and mitigation of operational process risks, ensuring safeguards are as low as reasonably practicableLead or participate in root cause investigations on process safety events, developing recommendations to improve operations and mitigate future incidentsDeliver technical safety engineering expertise aligned with industry standards (API, NFPA, FMG)Support and promote a strong process safety culture across operationsAnalyze lagging indicators on process safety events, identify trends, and develop solutions to prevent recurrenceSkills & QualificationsMinimum 10 years of operations/process experienceProcess Safety Engineering experience preferredBackground in Chemical or Process Engineering an assetRegistration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer Petroleum industry experience in engineering design and/or operations
