Data Governance Consultant Client: A top Canadian Bank Terms: 12 month ContractLocation: Hybrid- 1-3 days a week downtown,Overview: Apex Systems is seeking a Data Governance Consultant to support the development and execution of a data governance program within a large financial services organization. This role will contribute to the operationalization of governance practices across multiple lines of business, with a focus on improving data quality, traceability, and compliance. Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in evolving and implementing the enterprise data governance framework.Document and maintain governance artifacts including:Business process flowsBusiness term glossariesData dictionariesProcedure documentsData Sharing Agreements and Risk AssessmentsStakeholder education and instructional materialsSupport the definition and tracking of data quality metrics to ensure alignment with internal policies and regulatory standards.Prepare governance council materials, including KPIs and issue summaries; follow up on action items to support operational excellence.Act as a liaison between business, technology, and functional teams to ensure governance requirements are clearly defined, communicated, and integrated into planning processes. Ideal Candidate ProfileDemonstrated experience in data governance, including:Business term definition and critical data element (CDE) identificationData classification and catalogingBusiness lineage and traceability documentationGovernance and quality metrics developmentData stewardship and policy managementStrong communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working independently in a matrixed environment.Problem-solving mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity. Technical EnvironmentTools in use include: Databricks, Purview, Excel, Power BI, Power AutomateFamiliarity with Jira and Confluence is considered an asset.
