ELECTRICAL & INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEERPay Rate: 70.00 to 85.00 per hour, plus 200 per day living allowance for non-local applicantsWork Location: Medicine Hat, AlbertaWork Schedule: 4 days / 10 hours per dayContract Duration: 12 monthsStart Date: January 1, 2026The SR Instrumentation/Electrical Engineer will work within established codes and engineering guidelines to lead, review, design, and coordinate medium- to high-complexity, multi-disciplinary projects through all phases-research, definition, planning and estimating, execution, commissioning, and closeout. Additionally, this role will provide technical expertise to resolve plant issues related to instrumentation, electrical, and control/safety systems.RESPONSIBILITIESDesign and modify PLCs, safety PLCs (SIS), DCS, electrical systems, and field devices for projectsSize, select, procure, and oversee installation and commissioning of equipmentMaintain site instrument database, specification sheets, and electrical layout/logic drawingsCollaborate with stakeholders (e.g., Maintenance, Operations) to ensure knowledge transferDevelop an understanding of plant equipment design concepts (e.g., pumps, reformers)Utilize MOC and MCMP procedures to manage plant changes and project progressionManage projects through all lifecycle stages, ensuring safe and successful completionProvide technical support and guidance on instrumentation, control systems, and electrical systemsParticipate in hazard meetings, reliability initiatives, and root cause analysisEnsure compliance with Methanex policies, applicable standards, and HR proceduresMentor team members, communicate activities, and support department planningAdhere to relevant codes (e.g., Canadian Electrical Code, ISA, IEC1151) and contribute to Methanex's global visionQUALIFICATIONSSpecific Designation/Education: Electrical Engineering Degree (APEGA Certified), P. Eng designation, some project coordination/management would be preferred.Years of experience: 6 yrs minimum, and capable of working with lesser oversight.Familiarity with Triconex and Delta V system an asset.
