Position Overview, Responsibilities & Deliverables: Is responsible for the planning, designing, composing, evaluating, advising, or reporting on any activity that requires the application of engineering principles.Maintains instructions and procedures up to date, prepares reports, and reviews proposals from external organizations.Participates in training programs as required.Specific AccountabilitiesPrepare purchase requisition, review technical content of supplier bids, and technical submissionsPerform any required inspections as necessary for the procurement of material.Responsible for the specification sizing of equipment and the interconnection to ensure satisfactory process performancePiping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)Guides junior engineers and technical staff assigned to a common taskDatasheet/Technical specification of process equipmentSupport for the general arrangement of the processValidation of subcontractors' documentsStart-up notes and O&M manualsUses initiative and judgement in resolving problems, interprets engineering specifications, obtains and analyzes data, and designsDevelop effective working relationships with colleagues, officials, and associates for the purpose of discussing design problems, explaining design features and specifications, and other project control criteriaSolve problems by the use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures, or methods developed in previous assignmentsConducts independent studies and analysis, making interpretations and typical decisionsRequired Skills, Knowledge, and QualificationsWorking experience as a Mechanical Engineer in an EPC environment, particularly on nuclear, power, or utilities projects, or those related to Bruce Power, is considered an asset.University graduate in a related discipline (Mechanical Engineering)Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario5+ years of related working experience in a design consulting environmentMust be capable of using flow analysis and pipe stress analysis softwareWorking experience as a Mechanical Engineer in an EPC environment, working on Nuclear, Power Plant, Utilities, or Bruce Power projects is considered an asset.Specific knowledge in piping, and specifically alloyed piping in terms of definition, specification, calculation, sourcing, prefabrication, and assembly, will be considered an asset.
