It welcomes mature learners who did not have an opportunity to complete high school or earn high school credits for various reasons such as financial problems, family difficulties or other circumstances beyond their control. TYP's programming includes access to academic tutors, counselling and funding options, and space to work and socialize with other students in the program. The program gives students full access to the University's services and support, such as libraries, athletic facilities and the Health & Wellness Centre - and all the resources available to a full-time or part-time University of Toronto student. Purpose:The Outreach Coordinator to the Transitional Year Programme (TYP), will support the implementation of the TYP outreach strategies to establish partnerships with community programs and organization, adult schools in the GTA. As well as promote, present and support in the admission and student orientation processes. Liaise with contacts providing detailed information regarding admission requirements to prospective students and applicants. Reporting to the Assistant director and working closely with the Associate registrar and the TYP admin team, the Outreach coordinator provides coordination support to assist TYP in achieving its recruitment and enrollment goals and objectives. Provide proactive, customer-focused, high-quality service to a diverse population of in-person visitors to the office or phone enquiries. Assist with planning and executing on-campus recruitment events such as open houses, campus tours and outreach programming, including, but not limited to, coordinating logistics for events, including room bookings, materials preparation, catering, and signage. Working closely and collaboratively with the TYP Admin Team, the Coordinator will support the communications portfolio nurturing relationships with faculty members, campus services, and community organizations highlighting the achievements of TYP, while also elevating the broader impact of our work on equity and access for mature learners of diverse communities in the GTA.The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for positively representing TYP to support the recruitment of qualified students. Provide detailed information and will have a good understanding of the admission process and program requirements. The ability to interpret and explain admission guidelines and procedures and adhere to university policies and practices is crucial. The coordinator will support frontline activities, in-person and via phone. Assessing the needs of prospective students, families, school counsellors and others, will refer to appropriate staff, departments or divisions as needed. Your responsibilities will include:• Support implementation of TYP outreach strategies, logistics and activities• Designing and delivering targeted community outreach programs (workshops, info sessions, campus tours) that address the unique barriers and challenges faced by underrepresented and mature students, including financial, social, and systemic obstacles.• Providing guidance and support to prospective mature students from underrepresented backgrounds, on navigating admissions criteria, financial aid, program selection and registration and orientation processes. • Advocating for prospective nontraditional students by raising awareness of systemic barriers to education along the lines of Indigeneity, race, class, gender, sexuality, disability, age, etc• Working with internal stakeholders to create equitable admissions practices, and supporting policies that improve access, equity and inclusion for marginalized mature students.• Conducting needs assessments and research to understand the barriers faced by marginalized groups, and using this information to inform outreach strategies, program development, and recruitment initiatives.• Tracking and evaluating the impact of outreach initiatives, preparing reports on engagement, application trends, and enrollment from targeted communities, and recommend improvements to strengthen inclusivity and accessibility.• Disseminating program materials to prospective students and applicants• Acting as the first point of contact for general enquiries• Providing detailed information regarding admission requirements to prospective students and applicants• Promoting programs at recruitment events and open houses• Liaising with prospective students to provide detailed registration information. • Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counsellors on admissions criteria and processes by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences• Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming. • Liaising with contacts to facilitate and initiate outreach opportunities. Essential Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree • Experience in customer service environment, community outreach, direct student recruitment and/or admissions services environment• Minimum 3 years experience developing and maintaining strategic partnerships to promote access to post-secondary education with local community organizations, adult learning centers, and a wide breadth of cultural or advocacy orientated groups that serve Black, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, disabled, unhoused, and other historically underrepresented communities. • Extensive knowledge of anti-racism, anti-oppression, access and equity frameworks and the barriers to post-secondary education that systemic and institutional oppression poses for mature, non- traditional learners from historically marginalized communities. • Expertise and a proven track record in designing and delivering targeted community outreach programs (workshops, info sessions, campus tours) that address the unique barriers and challenges faced by underrepresented mature students that includes, among others, financial, social and overall systemic obstacles.• Expertise and proven track record supporting, guiding and counselling prospective mature, non-traditional learners from historically marginalized backgrounds with direct experiences of oppression in navigating admissions criteria, financial aid, program selection and registration and orientation processes in access and equity programs at the post-secondary level.• Expertise in case management along with extensive knowledge and experience of community work with vulnerable youth and underrepresented mature prospective students and proven experience in connecting marginalized community members to community resources: • Proven ability to create a safe and welcoming environment for diverse individuals and communities. • Experience in writing routine documents and correspondence• Substantial knowledge of university programs and current university policies, practices and procedures• Expertise in maintaining and documenting information on digital platforms• Experience with ROSITo be successful in this role you will be: • Adaptable• Diplomatic• Organized• Possess a positive attitude• Resourceful• Team player Closing Date: 12/09/2025, 11:59PM ETEmployee Group: USW Appointment Type: Budget - Continuing Schedule: Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:USW Pay Band 09 $67,916. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $86,855.
