_ Minimum Qualifications:
_


  • Secondary school education or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cemetery environment including Bereavement Authority of Ontario and County of Brant's Cemetery Bylaws
  • Good supervisory, interpersonal, communication with bereaved families, human and public relation skills
  • Good technical, mechanical, organizational, reading, writing, records management, and basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of ability to implement safe work practices (in compliance with applicable legislation, i.e., Occupational H&S Act, County of Brant Policies and Procedures, Book 7, workplace inspections, hazard recognition)
  • Must be able to perform manual work
  • Ability to operate light, medium and heavy machinery (i.e., backhoe)
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
  • Standard First aid, CPR, AED and WHMIS training
  • Valid Class G driver's license with an acceptable abstract
  • Acceptable Police Records Check

_Cemetery Operations Duties:
_


  • Provides direction, supervision and training to part time staff and seasonal students
  • Coordinates the sale of cemetery plots and interments
  • Responds to complaints, questions, and inquiries regarding cemetery operations
  • Performs administrative functions related to the division i.e., update card files/software, genealogical requests, cemetery inspections
  • Helps maintain records pertaining to plot sales, interments, maps, and other aspects of cemetery operations
  • Works with contractors to arrange interments and assists by locating plots
  • Performs grave set up, openings, closings, and lot layouts
  • Assist Funeral Directors with onsite burial services
  • Confirms marker placement orders and ensures compliance with Brant County Bylaws
  • Installs foundations and markers, performs minor monument repairs
  • Maintains laneways, parking lots, sidewalks
  • Grounds maintenance including grass cutting, trimming, tree maintenance, garbage removal, irrigation repairs, seasonal clean up, turf restoration
  • Inspects and maintains buildings, cemeteries, vehicles, and equipment
  • Performs housekeeping duties
  • Required to be on call for weekends on rotational basis
  • Other duties as assigned

Hourly Rate:
$24.18 (Probationary) $29.98 (full-time)

Hours per Week: 40 hours per week
