The Role

Specifically, the role involves:

  • Performing geophysical data processing and analysis.
  • Running site simulations as part of proofs of concept for prospective customers.
  • Interpreting results effectively.
  • Taking responsibility for the overall technical quality and proficiency for data processing and analysis.

Qualifications:

Must-haves: You'll need the following to move forward in the hiring process and be successful in the role.

  • A PGeo or GIT designation is desirable.
  • Degree in geophysics, geology, engineering physics or closely related field, or equivalent proficiency with advanced geophysical methods and concepts.
  • Junior: Bachelor's degree
  • Intermediate / Senior: MSc or higher preferred. Subspecialization in data science is a strong asset but not required
  • Geophysical analysis experience analyzing and interpreting field data and running forward modeling / simulations with provided data sets.
  • Junior: 2 years' experience
  • Intermediate: 7 years' experience
  • Senior: 10+ years' experience and demonstrated depth of experience in developing new geoscience analysis products and tools.
  • A strong understanding of geophysical methods plus how geophysical inversions work and the subtleties involved.
  • A strong understanding of geology and experience with the theoretical and practical aspects of mineral exploration specifically and subsurface insights in general.
  • Software languages: Python at an intermediate level is required; we will ask to see your code and/or complete a technical assessment. Demonstrated experience and a high level of proficiency for using geophysical analysis software to fully process and independently analyze a range of survey data, such as ArcGIS, QGIS, LeapFrog, Geosoft Oasis Montaj, among others.
  • Comfortable working in both Linux and Windows environments.
  • Welldeveloped communication and presentation skills in English at a fluent or professional level.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Legally able and currently documented to work full time hours in Canada.

Job Requirements

Ideon is a hybrid workplace, with most employees working from our office in east Richmond, BC 2-3 days/week.

Hours of work: 8 hours/day, Monday to Friday. Our typical working hours are 9AM-5PM Pacific Standard Time; some employees shift slightly earlier or later based on business and personal needs. You may occasionally be asked to be flexible with your hours due to business requirements.
