Position Summary
The Learning Place is an ever-growing Adult Literacy organization, striving to help residents of Peel Region upskill their English reading and writing, Math and Digital Literacy skills The Junior Operations Coordinator is a part-time position and ensures the smooth running of our company's office and ensuring the rest of the staff have adequate support to work efficiently.
The role is key to our organization since it is often the first person that interacts with our LBS and community clients in representing our organization.
This role will work closely with staff; specifically with our Program Managers for our LBS and P2G program and the Senior Coordinator for all tasks and direction.
The role will be centrally located in our Brampton office with communications between our satellite office in Mississauga.Key Duties and Responsibilities
Operational Tasks:
- Critical to be a self starter and a forward thinker to anticipate issues and be proactive to address them
- Will be answering phone calls, taking inquiries and information pertaining to The Learning Place and programs, as well as inquiries for intake appointments.
- Listening and responding to missed calls accordingly.
- Assisting with the daytoday paperwork such as filing and organization.
- Assisting in the printing and organizing of all marketing and promotional materials
- Ensuring all manuals, operations and policies are kept up to date with the guidance of the Program Managers and Senior Coordinator.
- Ensuring all other staff support is met when directed by Senior Coordinator
- Taking and ensuring meeting minutes/notes are accurate and dispersed at the appropriate times
- Scheduling meetings and tracking Manager's calendars for all community partner meetings and intake appointments
- Assisting in the time management for Manager's; such as keeping deadlines afloat and providing the appropriate checkins and reminders when needed
- Maintaining all supplies within the office for all staff, as well as the maintain of the space.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Diploma in Office Administration would be an asset.
- Customer Service experience is required and an asset.
- Familiarity with Persons with Disabilities.
- Highly motivated and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a multi cultural environment
- Understanding disability and social equity issues would be an asset.
- Excellent reading, oral and written communication skills, as well as sound critical thinking and interpersonal skills
- Must be committed to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion and be able to demonstrate an understanding of these principles as they relate to students' success and goal path.
- Demonstrated understanding of the strengths and challenges of adults with multibarriers and disabilities and understand how to teach with these in mind; Understanding of how learning Disabilities can affect learning.
- Ability to exercise initiative, tact, discretion, problemsolving skills and to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Being comfortable with social media and knowing how to use the various platforms would be considered an asset.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks for multiple stakeholders is critical to be successful in this role.
- High degree of organization is critical to be successful in this role.
- Proficient in MS Office and Google Suite this is mandatory since this is our main office software package.
- Must be comfortable working with files on the cloud or online data storage platform.
- Must be a self starter and take a high degree of ownership for assigned tasks.
- Must be flexible to jump in and do what is needed to support the organizational goals and to meet objectives set forth by Program Managers and Executive Director.
- Must show initiative and offer creative and innovative ideas to address issues in our unique space.

- Flexible work hours are required but standard workday will be:
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30am-4:00pm
