Harbour Master

Seasonal Employment (May to September)

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor and Manager of Facilities and Parks, the Harbour Master will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations at the Newboro Harbour and Portland Harbour, while enforcing policies and by-laws set by Council and collecting the appropriate fees.

This position has flexible work hours hours per week) but weekend/holiday work is required and also includes some waste and recycling collection from two locations on Sundays. The pay range is $18-$20 per hour.

Education/Experience/Skills Requirements:

• Must have valid G driver's license and access to reliable transportation to travel between sites
• Must have experience in customer service
• Must have experience in dealing with cash, receipts and accounts receivable reconciliations
• Experience in waste and recycling procedures would be an asset

Duties:

• Collection of parking and dock slip payments and remitting receipts to users
• Keeping daily and weekly accounting logs to submit to the Manager of Facilities and Parks
• Providing customer service to boaters/users of the harbours with general inquiries
• Grounds maintenance of the Newboro and Portland Harbour sites and Hanna Park / Portland Beach
• Identifying, reporting and when possible mitigating, safety deficiencies of the docks/grounds
• Issuing notices of contravention to vehicles/boats who contravene policies/bylaws of the Township
• Other duties as assigned
