ASL Residential Support Worker (Intervenor)
Richmond, BCIntervenors are specially trained professionals who use a tactile form of Sign Language and act as
- the "eyes" and "ears" of a person who has both hearing loss and sight loss (deafblindness). An
- Intervenor facilitates access to environmental information that is usually gained through vision and
- learn concepts and skills, develop communication and language, and establish relationships that
- lead to greater independence and community involvement. Given the unique needs of individuals
- with deafblindness, Aspire offers ongoing training and professional development for employees.

YOUR IMPACT:
- Assist clients with deafblindness to communicate their needs, likes and preferences;
- Empower clients to make informed decisions and live enriched lives;
- Work as part of a team to support individuals to achieve identified goals;
- Follow activity plans, based on client's personal plans and provide input on progress to the team;**
- Assist with the development and implementation of client strategy plans;
- Provide personal care as required
YOUR CAPABILITIES:
- Must be fluent in ASL (American Sign Language), preferably with training as an Intervenor for
Persons with deafblindess.
- Post-Secondary Education in Community Support Worker, Social Services Worker, Personal
- Support Worker or related field and at least 6 months of related work experience is preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to demonstrating respect, leadership, trust and teamwork;
- Current First Aid certification.
- Clear Criminal Record Check.
- Covid19 Vaccination.
