Oversee all shipping and receiving and to ensure that the department is run efficiently using the most cost-effective means.

  • Responsible to support Team Leader(s) ensuring daily requirements are met while maintaining high standards of quality in a safe working manner.
  • Responsible to guide, train and direct Team Leaders and members by giving clear direction (Key Result Areas) by taking ownership.
  • Responsible for stimulating the problemsolving processes by empowering and motivating others to make improvements highlighting opportunities/possible solutions.
  • Responsible for ensuring all resources are effectively utilized to maximize all valueadded activities that support the overall Steering Committee's Business Plan with high emphasis on customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures all team members have been given the necessary tools to perform duties, i.e. personal protective equipment, small tools etc. and completes requisition forms as required for such tools.
  • Responsible to provide report to Materials Manager / Plant Manager or designate on all continuous improvement projects as per Lean Measurables stated.
  • Responsible to conduct quarterly development reviews for all direct reports clearly stating each person's major duties and responsibilities, main objectives, direct customers (interior and exterior), including areas requiring improvement/development.
  • Responsible to prepare and monitor departmental budgets and capital requirements.
  • Responsible to actively participate in APQP team activities, and feasibility commitment teams as required.
  • Distributes all work in a fair and equitable manner. Evenly allocates overtime and manages all vacation requests taking into consideration customer requirements.
  • Oversees the timely deliveries and pickups of parts/components including all painted and washed parts.
  • Ensures all shipping and receiving records are maintained, including files for incoming and outgoing materials and products.
  • Sources trucking companies that help reduce cost while still meeting customer demands.
  • Approves trucking invoices for all trucking companies used by KIRCHHOFF Automotive Inc.
  • Provides training to new/existing employees within department.
  • Provides Engineering department with expertise when designing new packaging, i.e. how many parts can fit in container, cost of shipping etc.
  • Oversees and assists in maintaining of storage, shipping and receiving areas ensuring they are kept clean, safe and tidy.
  • Cooperates with the Safety Committee and adheres to all plant safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintains positive employee relations and addresses issues in timely manner. Seeks advice/counsel from appropriate sources as required.
  • Any other reasonable request made by management.
  • Contributes to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize and support) are supported and adhered to.
  • Ensures he/she is in full compliance with the laws of Ontario and/or any other province or state, while representing KIRCHHOFF Automotive Inc. or during the use of any KIRCHHOFF Inc. provided equipment.

- Judgement - exercises judgement are:
Ø Determining packaging material to be used in replacement when supply depleted.

Ø Evenly distributing overtime to departmental employees.

Ø Deciding which customer is to receive shipment if supply to demand cannot be met.

Ø Determining best routing for KIRCHHOFF Automotive Inc. responsible truck pickups and deliveries.

- Accountability - is accountable in areas of:
Ø Developing and administering departmental budget.

Ø Ensuring that customer receives the correct quantity of the right product at the right time.

Ø Ensuring that the cost of trucking is maintained within budget or less.

  • Contacts establishes/maintains relationships:
Ø Employees in the Production Control, Production and Engineering, Quality, Tool Room, Maintenance, Human Resources and M.I.S. departments.

Ø Suppliers, i.e. Trucking companies, Paint shops

Ø Customers - internal and external

Qualification

  • Valid forklift license and forklift driving experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years shipping experience in leadership role automotive preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in business/ Logistics / Operations or related field preferred
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of lean manufacturing process.
  • Understanding of IATF 16949/ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Sound understanding of WHIMS (Work Hazardous Material Information Systems).
  • Sound understanding of bar code label printing and scanning technology.
