Position Description:


Serving as the senior leader of the information technology team in Serco Canada, the VP of Information Technology leads Serco Canada's IT department of IT professionals.


The role of the VP of Information Technology involves supervising the technology used to facilitate all aspects of the organization's technology programs, both existing and new.

This position will report to the Chief Information Officer and will function as a strategic partner to the business leadership teams, offering extensive technical knowledge to assist in making informed business decisions.

The VP is accountable for implementing optimal practices that reduce infrastructure and operation costs while also enhancing system performance.

The VP is responsible for communicating technically intricate information and concepts to business stakeholders in a clear and simple manner.

The Senior VP of IT will use strategic, critical, and creative thinking to propose optimal solutions across the Company's technology stack.

In addition to possessing deep technical expertise, the VP must also act as a leader and developer of IT talent within the organization.

  • Provide leadership and management supervision to the Canadian Technology Services Team.
  • Provide expert and strategic advice to members of the Canadian Program Operations teams on all technology matters affecting the Company.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop a team of IT professionals, leading them to meet or exceed Serco's expectations for productivity, quality, and achievement.
  • Create a culture of IT professionals focused on deep business alignment, accountability for outcomes, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive transformational change and innovation while balancing business, infrastructure, and technology needs.
  • Ensure key business strategies and processes are supported by technology systems that enable growth and flexibility.
  • Effectively establish and manage multiple Programs' IT budget. Seek and evaluate emerging technologies and educate business stakeholders on the potential for new technologies to deliver return on investment by enabling business innovation, efficiency, and competitive advantage.
  • Oversee and manage projects to ensure target dates and budget expectations are met. Ensure servicelevel requirements are met while upholding all governance standards.
  • Demonstrate a management style that encourages mentorship, teamwork, participation, communication, and service orientation. Empower the IT team to succeed, assist in removing roadblocks, and coach the team to high levels of performance.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of all IT teams. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience - Required

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with major course work in computer science, information technology, or related field
  • Minimum of twenty years of experience in Information technology.
  • Minimum of fifteen years of progressively senior experience, including experience leading teams across all functions of technology
  • Relevant experience with Canadian Government IT implementation projects.
  • Relevant experience with Ontario's GO-ITS architecture standards.

Education and/or Experience - Preferred

  • Master's or advanced education in a related field
  • Substantive experience as a developer, engineer, and/or architect, project, and program management.

  • Superior communication skills, oral and written; the ability to convey technically complex information and concepts in easily understood terms.
  • Strong background and experience with leading a diverse team of IT managers and engineers in an IT service delivery operations environment, including building next generation talent.
  • Able to excel in a fastpaced work environment.
  • Superb organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and complete work in a timely manner.
  • Exceptional knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure
  • Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting, and business operations
  • Superior analytical and problemsolving capabilities
  • Eligible to work in Canada
