DUTIES


Trailblazers Life Choices is looking to fill the position of a Driver, who, under the direction of Transportation Coordinator, will primarily be responsible for transportation of adults living with disabilities.


MAIN DUTIES:

  • Report delays, mechanical problems and accidents;
  • Load and unload vehicle;
  • Direct passengers during emergency evacuation procedures;
  • Deal with difficult passengers and resolve conflicts;
  • Deal with public;
  • Complete logbooks and reports;
  • Perform pretrip, en route and posttrip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle;
  • Communicate with passengers, Transpiration Coordinator or other drivers;
  • Operate buses or streetcars to transport passengers;
  • Ensure adult's safety when boarding and leaving buses and crossing street while bus is stopped;
  • Maintain control of individuals activities during travel to prevent distractions or behaviours that could compromise safety.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Driver's License (Class 2);
  • Experience is an asset (School bus driver; Intercity bus driver; Buses 1 year)
  • Driver's abstract;
  • Be able to work in a fastpaced environment;
  • Be able to work under pressure;
  • Be able to handle heavy loads;
  • Be able to sit for prolonged time
  • Attention to detail;
  • Handeye coordination;
  • Ability to distinguish between colors;
  • Sound discrimination;

SCHEDULE
The shifts will be split between the following hours:
Mon-Fri: 7am - 10am & 3pm - 5pm

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • An applicant who is offered an employment, must provide a current (not older than 3 months) and satisfactory Criminal Records Check (with vulnerable sector search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check
