Respite Worker

Position Summary

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe and fun supervision and care to children served, either inhome or at Tunngasugit
  • Pick up and drop off children before and after scheduled respite care
  • Provide children served with a healthy meal during scheduled respite care
  • Perform light cleaning duties to maintain clean and safe environment
  • Document all activities and events during each shift according to program policy
Provide regular reports to program supervisor

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with, supervising, and/or parenting children of all ages
  • Ability and willingness to work with children and youth with disabilities
  • Experience providing care and support to persons with disabilities of any age is an asset
  • Valid Class 5 MB driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required
  • Clean and current Vulnerable Sectors check and Child Abuse Registry Check are required
  • Training in First Aid/CPR, Food Handler's, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is an asset, but training will be provided
  • Experience working with Inuit.
  • Preference will be given to applicants of Inuit ancestry
  • Ability to work weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Ability to speak Inuktitut is considered an asset.

$17.20 per hour

Expected hours: - 8 per week
