The Role

As we report to our Superintendent - Engineering, we are in search of a Senior Mechanical Engineer to bolster our Maintenance function and offer technical solutions for intricate equipment challenges.

This role is perfect for individuals seeking a demanding, influential position where their contributions directly impact plant performance. Primary areas of focus in this role include milling, classification, gravity concentration, flotation circuits, cyanide treatment, and thickening.

Roster: Full-Time FIFO from Perth, 8 days on, 6 days off - departing on Fridays.

Location: Telfer Operations - a Gold and Copper Mine situated in the Great Sandy Desert in WA.

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Serving as the go-to technical authority for maintenance and reliability engineering at the operation.
  • Offering practical technical assistance, guidance, and mentorship to site personnel on maintenance, engineering, safety, regulatory compliance, and technical issues.
  • Eligible to act as a Statutory Supervisor under Section 26 of the WGS (Mines Regulations WA 2022) and ensuring compliance with all assets and activities under your supervision.
  • Aiding in identifying and monitoring critical mechanical breakdown risks across the site, overseeing the implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Developing work scopes, repair methodologies, and spearheading initiatives to enhance plant reliability.
  • Delivering reliable, cost-efficient engineering solutions in adherence to site and Australian Standards.
  • Mentoring graduate engineers and engineers as part of your role.
  • Displaying Visible Safety Leadership on-site to drive a positive cultural shift while upholding Newmont's Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

We are seeking a dynamic individual capable of offering innovative solutions and effectively collaborating with maintenance teams.

The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in Mechanical Engineering within the Mining or Heavy Industry sectors, with a track record of leading projects and proactively addressing complex challenges. Experience in gold/hard rock mineral processing and equipment will be viewed favorably.

Other Requirements and Skills:

  • Experience in crushing, conveying, and coarse ore handling is beneficial.
  • Accredited Mechanical Engineering Degree recognized by Engineers Australia.
  • Eligible for Statutory Supervisors accreditation as per Schedule 26 of the WHS (Mines) Regulations (WA) 2022.
  • Proficiency in relevant Australian Standards and Legislation.
  • Eligible to acquire Working at Heights and Confined Space certification.
  • Experience in team leadership and management.
  • Proficiency in SAP.
  • C Class Drivers Licence.
