Fiber Splicer

We are hiring a combination fiber splicer, someone who has the ability to splice fiber and work with cable placement crews.

Applicant must be able to work in various situations such as an occasional night shift to preform cutovers, in various weather conditions to access certain splice locations or customer premise locations.

Must be able to work for Shaw and Telus having a positive past relationship with either company, if any.

Job to Begin as soon as Possible

The technical requirements:

• Fiber cable enclosing experience, along with properly opening different types of fiber cables including ADSS, Central tube, ribbon/stranded and flat drop fiber cables.
• Experience and knowledge with both Single and Mass Fusion splicing
• Ribbonizing single strand fibers.
• Experience with patch panels, transition cabinets, and customer fiber enclosures.
• Experience in Testing and troubleshooting transport, feeder, or distribution fibers with OTDR, power meter, Live fiber identifier and VFL.
• Must be willing to work in manholes, aloft in bucket, and off ladders if required.
• Must be able to keep a clean work environment.
• Knowledge with both Shaw and Telus Standards would be an asset.
• Willing to work with others and able to work alone
• Have experience in pulling copper, fiber and coax cables

- periodically travel out of town, job specific

• Clean drivers record.

$28.00-$34.00 per hour
