The School
The role is within our School of Applied Sciences and Technology. The departments within the School are located on our Grande Prairie campus and our Fairview campus. The School offers a variety of programming in Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Sciences, and Animal Health Technology.

Through this programming, we offer a variety of certificates, diplomas, university transfer courses, as well as a degree in computing science.


The Role
The Humanities and Social Sciences Department requires a Social Work Instructor to teach the undergraduate-level Introduction to Social Work (SW2010 course in the fall term. This part-time, sessional position will commence September 5, 2023.
This course will be delivered on campus.

Job Requirements

Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

  • A minimum of a Master of Social Work degree or equivalent, with a PhD preferred.
  • Knowledge of different instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles;
  • Knowledge of Northwestern Polytechnic courses and current educational technologies (e.g., videoconferencing, learning management systems) is required;
  • Knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action;
  • Studentfocused;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to build strong relationships across the organization; and
  • A high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
