West Parry Sound Health Centre (WPSHC) has always employed an innovative planning approach aimed at integrating services.

Faced with the challenges of rural care delivery, WPSHC has partnered in regional alliances and created internal programming solutions that have benefited patient care and improved services throughout the catchment area.


Today our uniquely integrated health care organization includes Lakeland Long Term Care, six Nursing Stations delivering care to rural communities, management of District ambulance services and dispatch, and a full range of in-patient and out-patient programs associated with a 90-bed acute care hospital.

About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the successful applicant provides leadership and direction to the following programs: Ambulance Communications Services, Medical Imaging, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Outpatient Departments and Quality portfolios in alignment with the Vision, Mission, Values and Strategic Objectives of West Parry Sound Health Centre (WPHSC).

Working collaboratively with the Medical Director, other Directors and employees, the Director will ensure alignment with the programs strategic priorities and achieve this in a fiscally responsible manner.


The Director will develop and foster partnerships with internal and external stakeholders that promotes safe, effective, evidence-based and quality outcomes.


The Director will be accountable for program planning, human resource planning and allocation, fiscal accountability with each of the programs, as well as overseeing the Accreditation process, the annual development of the Quality Improvement Plan and support the required Board committees as required.


More About You:

To qualify for the role, you will need a Master's Degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration or Related Field.

You will also need to have:

  • Educational preparation/courses in leadership and management.
  • Minimum five (5) years related clinical experience required.
  • Minimum five (5) years formal leadership experience required.
  • Experience with operational responsibilities.
  • Experience with Program development and management.
  • Experience leading large change initiatives within a complex health care setting.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, communication, change management, conflict resolution, problem solving and team building skills.
  • Demonstrated proven ability to be accountable and foster accountability in others.
  • Demonstrated participatory leadership style has been demonstrated which includes approachability, visibility and accessibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, manage and plan for human resource needs utilizing recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate, coach, mentor and lead individuals and/or groups to achieve quality outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and agile while effectively supporting the organization during periods of change and shifts in strategic goals and objectives.
  • Experience in building and leading an effective team.
  • Demonstrated satisfactory attendance levels, work performance, disciplinary history, and positive work references.
