Reporting to the Survey Manager and working as part of the Survey team.

Surveyors will make exact measurements and provide data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features on or near the earth's surface for engineering, construction & others.


Responsibilities:

  • Performs a full range of complex technical support functions related to the survey, location, construction, and tenure/rights acquisition of civil and structural components.
  • Provides construction layout data as requested, including control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by crafts.
  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys.
  • Adjust surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy.
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations.
  • Record the results of surveys.
  • Performing a variety of complex calculations to determine topography, volume, profile, survey closures, heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
  • Adapting existing standards in order to prepare alternative design proposals for projects involving cross discipline issues.
  • Designing and adjusting survey networks and resolving technical problems.
  • Prepare all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.
  • Prepare clear and accurate field notes and calculations.
  • Other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 2year technical diploma in Geomatics with at least 3year experience in industrial and construction surveying projects
  • Familiarity with active construction sites
  • Experience in surveying using a Total Station & GPS, (models we currently use are Leica, Trimble and Topcon), and other Survey Instruments.
  • Ability to accurately read plans and calculate shapes (geometric, etc.) also required.
  • Have a strong work ethic with a professional demeanour.
  • Full clean Class 5 Driver's License
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Have good interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Good hands on technical, communication, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team.
  • Be a team player who can also work independently to meet deadlines

Working Conditions:

  • Must be physical fit to climb, walk on uneven terrain and steep slopes, carry heavy and awkward objects, and perform repetitive strenuous tasks and able lift heavy loads (up to 50lbs) repeatedly through an entire work shift.
  • Must be able to work access/board equipment in areas with uneven ground or snow or soft ground/surface water.
  • Preaccess screening including a Drug and Alcohol test is required.
  • Living out Allowance is not currently offered for this position.
