Engineering Information Management

Calgary, Alberta, Canada NES Fircroft Full time

Our valued client, a key Oil & Gas client are seeking an Engineering Information Management (EIM) – Mechanical Engineer to join their Calgary team on a long-term contract basis.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
1)

Engineering Technical & Vendor Documentation:
Documentation for Rotating and Static Equipment changes has not always been stored correctly.

Critical Technical documents in the controlled document system may still reflect Original Design, or there are gaps of missing documents.

Documents have not been reliably turned over at the end of projects, such that the latest document revision may not reflect field conditions (lack of trust).

Some groups have also created their own Library on the uncontrolled network drive versus transfer new project documents to the controlled Document Management System (McLaren) managed by Document Control.

We need to ensure that the client has one-source-of-truth for critical Mechanical documents that are stored in the McLaren document management system – where documents are complete (all related documents), accurate, searchable, and accessible to all site users.

Responsibilities:

you will compare uncontrolled document sources (R: network drive, Iron Mountain hard copy storage) against the McLaren controlled collection to locate missing critical documents.

You will work with the Reliability and Static engineering teams to review old project documents, and audit Turnover of new project documents.

Leverage Offshore Drafting Services for Document comparisons, Tag Scrapes, and Load Sheet creation to efficiently support volume of work.

You will work with Document Control (DC) to get these found documents into the McLaren controlled collection with required meta-data (Title Block details, Tags etc), request as-built drafting of redlined drawings as required from EIM Drafting, and removal of duplicated documents from the uncontrolled network drive.

2) Information Portal – Smart Review Dashboard.

Site User Interface to access all Information in one spot (includes McLaren, Infogen, PowerBI reports-Master Tag Registry, 3D Model SPR Sessions, TruView Laser Scans).

Responsibilities:

you will provide Training to Reliability team (Group session or 1:1) to ensure team members are familiar, and can access required Information for their daily role.

You will conduct regular reviews and provide input for future improvements of the Information Portal

Role Requirements:

  • Understanding of Technical and Vendor Documentation lifecycle from Design, Issued for Construction, Redlines, QA/QC, and as-building final Document Deliverables to go into the McLaren Document Management System (Docs available to Site Users). This includes creation of Project Document/Drawing List at start of a Project to include all related documents (for all Disciplines impacted), and Authentication requirements
  • Understanding of the ENGWO/MOC process workflow, and integration with Maximo
  • Detail Focused, investigative personality. Require creativity and perseverance to make connections when looking through various sources of information including network drives, and Iron Mountain storage (hard-copy documents)
  • Will work closely with other Discipline Engineering Focals on EIM team as most projects have multi-discipline documents
  • Good communicator, must be able to work with multiple departments and stakeholders including Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Document Control
  • Competent in Excel to audit and compare datasets. Competency in Access or other Database experience an asset
  • Ability to learn new software and to provide DEMOs (ie. McLaren, Smart Review, TruView)
  • Mechanical Engineer with 10-15 years' experience. Preferred to have experience working with Owner Project teams and EPC teams for reviewing Legacy Projects. Oilsands and Field experience an asset
