About School District 91

Nechako Lakes School District acknowledges that we are situated on the traditional territories of fourteen First Nations including the Dakelh, Neduten, and Wetsuweten peoples. The district focuses on continuous improvement and student success through evidence-informed practices that enhance learning, inclusivity, and equity.

The region, historically dependent on forestry, mining, and agriculture, has seen a rise in tourism recently. With a population of nearly 40,000, the district served 3532 students in the 2022/23 school year, with a significant Indigenous student population.

Over the years, there has been a decline in enrolment in the communities served by SD91, but stabilization is now anticipated. The district operates 18 schools, along with EBUS Academy, a Provincial Online Learning School enrolling several thousand students. EBUS is a leading online school in British Columbia catering to families and students province-wide.
