Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join the Home Health City Wide Community Program team in Vancouver, BC, working as a Clinical Instructor.

Operate the clinical education and training program for occupational therapy students for an assigned area, in accordance with established policies and procedures and professional standards.

Supervise and ensure occupational therapy students receive required supervision, training and orientation.

Participate in student education and/or evaluations and utilizes advanced clinical knowledge to provide clinical services to patients, as required.


ABOUT HOME HEALTH PROGRAMS:

Home Health programs provide a range of health care and support services to people living in the community who have acute, chronic, palliative or rehabilitative health care needs.

Home Health clients typically have on-going health issues and/or complex personal and/or social issues, requiring care planning and coordination of appropriate resources.

Clients include frail elderly, younger clients with disabilities, and adults with chronic illnesses requiring supports to maintain/promote independence. Education & Experience
Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of BC (COTBC).
Four (4) years' recent related health care experience including two years' experience teaching students.

One (1) year experience in a leadership/supervisory role and completion of a course on adult basic education, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Eligible for clinical faculty appointment at the level of Clinical Instructor or higher at a recognized educational institution.
Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.

Broad knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice within a client centred model of care, including knowledge of self-management skills.

Broad knowledge of interprofessional team competencies, including knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care

Broad knowledge of the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with students, other health care staff, clients and their families, both one-on-one and in groups.

Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and database skills.
Ability to operate related equipment including related software applications.

As per the current Public Health Orders, as of October 5, 2023, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received a single dose of the most-recent, updated COVID-19 vaccine.

Proof of vaccination status will be required.
