Municipal Law Enforcement Officer Co-op
- _The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is looking for a highly motivated and team oriented individual to work in the Enforcement Division from May to August 2024. Reporting to the Manager of Enforcement, this position will assist the Enforcement Division in the enforcement and administration of the Town's by-laws.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitors the Town both proactively and in response to complaints for traffic violations and when necessary issues Parking Infraction Notices.
  • Maintains accurate records of Parking Infraction Notices and completes the necessary paperwork, including detailed reports of evidence required for court procedures under the relevant sections of the Provincial Offences Act and presents evidence in court when required.
  • May assist the Enforcement Division in the enforcement of various Town bylaws including Traffic, Sign, Noise, Clean Yards, Road Use, Littering, Business Licensing and Animal Control Bylaw(s).
  • Assist in patrolling assigned areas on a regular basis to monitor compliance with Town Bylaws;
  • Respond to general inquiries/complaints from the public and resolve/refer as appropriate.
  • Identify infractions and navigate compliance options.
  • Issue Parking Infraction Notices, Provincial Offence Notices and Notices of Violation in accordance with the Municipal Act and Provincial Offences Act(s).
  • Maintain complete and accurate records/field notes and input records into an incident management system.

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in postsecondary education in law, police foundations, security or related discipline.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, professionally and courteously with all levels of staff, external contacts and the general public.
  • Productive in a team environment and possess strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with information technology and working knowledge municipal law enforcement practices and techniques.
  • Able to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies and the public.
  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings as part of a regular schedule.
  • Possess a valid class "G" Ontario driver's license in good standing.
  • Able to submit a successful Vulnerable Sector Check
The hourly rate for this position is $ rates) per hour.
