The
IT Field Technician manages multiple security projects from inception to conclusion.

You will plan, budget, document, control and evaluate all aspects of the project and work closely with the customer, Business Development Manager and Operations Manager.

About you:

  • Lead multiple projects to completion under the Business Development Manager.
  • Plans the scope of work which includes budgeting, system designs, installation and commissioning, staffing, pricing and timeliness of completion.
  • Installation and service of IP based and analog CCTV.
  • Monitor site progress and make necessary arrangement
  • Arrange equipment purchase requisition and ensuring delivery date is met coordinates with Contractors and customers
  • Attend meetings and briefings by customer
  • Work with mínimal supervision.
  • Review and interpret electrical and architectural drawings.
  • Outoftown travel.
  • Analyzes plans, construction contract specifications, and contracts to determine project requirements.
  • Manages the development of project plans in advance of project activity
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors
  • Utilizes financial and monthly forecasting to manage and contain costs and works with other team members to monitor, manage and control costs
  • Completes thorough wrap up of final deliverable and plans for future improvements
  • Install, configure, and maintain CCTV systems, including cameras, DVRs/NVRs, and associated hardware and software components.
  • Conduct onsite surveys and audits to determine the most suitable locations for camera installation, taking into account lighting, obstructions, and other factors.
  • Run cables and wires for CCTV installations, ensuring proper routing and concealment where necessary.
  • Perform initial system setup and configuration, including camera settings, recording parameters, and user access controls.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to CCTV systems, including camera malfunctions, video loss, network connectivity, and software glitches.
  • Diagnose and repair hardware and software problems related to network equipment, including switches, routers, and servers.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning cameras, updating firmware/software, and optimizing system performance.
  • Conduct system testing and quality assurance to ensure proper functionality and adherence to technical specifications.
  • Assist with the integration of CCTV systems with other security and IT systems, such as access control systems and video management platforms.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to endusers, including training on system operation and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system installations, configurations, repairs, and upgrades.

Summary of Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Experience installing emergency communications/security systems such as CCTV and access systems.
  • RCMP Reliability Clearance or eligible to obtain clearance.
  • Have a valid driver's license
  • Excellent contracting skills
  • Valid BC security license.
  • Must have the ability to resolve the scope of work and contractual issues and change orders on assigned projects
  • Strong computer and networking skills required as well as strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical, organizational, and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in correctional and law enforcement environments.
  • Strong customer relationship skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Electronics, Networking, and/or Programming certification from an accredited organization preferred
  • Experience with managing construction projects is a plus.
