Responsibilities:
Coordinate the planning for and implementation of the community-based intergenerational Trauma and

Addiction Healing Programs within Nunatsiavut and Upper Lake Melville, drawing upon clinical best practices
and cultural/traditional knowledge for individual, family, and group therapy and healing.

Coordinate and communicate with regional and community partners for successful program delivery, including
educating and advocating to ensure services provided to Inuit are trauma-informed and strengths-based.

Facilitate the community-based intergenerational trauma and addiction programs within Nunatsiavut and Upper
lake Melville, drawing upon clinical best practices and cultural/traditional knowledge for individual, family, and
group therapy and healing.

Prepare budget proposals for this program area; authorize expenditures from approved budget within authority
guidelines.

Develop therapeutic relationships and support healing interventions with individuals, couples and families, and
groups, including outreach and engagement and follow-up and continuing care

Maintain current knowledge of issues, trends, and best practices within the trauma &addictions fields,
particularly related to northern/remote and Indigenous populations.

Ensure Inuit culture and values permeate all program components and decisions.

Contribute to departmental, regional, and community based planning, coordination, and collaboration efforts,
including supporting other related initiatives as time permits

  • Qualifications:
  • Degree in Social Work or the equivalent Clinical Counselling education/experiences.
  • Experience in couple, family, and group therapy.
  • Experience in a variety of current strength based psychotherapeutic approaches applicable to work within a
collective, Indigenous environment.

  • Understanding of Inuit culture, intergenerational trauma, and healing.
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, teaching, public speaking, and workshop presentation

Assets:

  • Bilingual in Inuktitut and English
