Organizational Description: The Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada is a non-profit dedicated to preserving the history of aviation in Western Canada. Showcasing 27 aircraft and many unique artefacts presented from a story-driven approach, the museum is designed to educate, inspire and entertain.

RAMWC seeks to honor and commemorate the history of Indigenous Peoples and aviation in Western Canada while engaging with the complex history of travel, trade and relationships in this place. It is committed to the calls to actions of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and facilitating a safe place for reconciliation to occur.

Volunteer Opportunity Details

Description of Duties:

Students aged 16 and older are encouraged to join our team as ambassadors of the museum. Sign up for duty on our aviation plaza where children ride the mini Tiger Moths during the summer months. Or sign up for the Science of Flight Zone and interact with visitors around the Musketeer Trainer, the Mini Helicopter and Wind Tunnel exhibits. Ambassadors can also participate in fun activities during the museum's public events held throughout the year. Your role is to engage with visitors in a friendly way, respond to inquiries, and report to staff when assistance is needed. You will be a team player in keeping our environment safe for the visitors and the artifacts on display.

Interest in science, aviation, or aerospace

Ability to do tasks independently

Team player who will ask for assistance when needed

Age: 16-17, 18-30

Time Commitment: Daytime , Weekend

3 to 4 hour shifts

Museum Hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, 7 days a week

Self-scheduling

Minimum of 25 hours per year required
