About the Position

Reporting to the Director of French Second Language, you will play a key role in shaping the Department's objectives by creating, implementing, and assessing educational programs and courses for the public-school system. Your responsibilities will include offering guidance on programs and courses to various educational institutions, organizations, and the public.

You will focus on enhancing literacy skills for Grades P-6 within the French Immersion program, developing curriculum documents, and ensuring program materials meet the required standards. Aligning French Second Language curricula with Inclusive Education policies and providing professional development to school staff are also integral parts of your role.

Your Profile

Successful candidates will hold a master's degree in education or a related field, along with at least 8 years of experience in French Second Language education or a similar context. Equivalent Teacher Certification combined with relevant experience will also be considered.

Key qualifications include:

  • Proven expertise in program design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • In-depth knowledge of current research on second language acquisition and inclusive education, with a focus on Nova Scotia.
  • Strong proficiency in both spoken and written French, accompanied by solid English skills.
  • Ability to effectively use technology and Microsoft Office tools for communication and instruction.
  • Outstanding communication skills across verbal, written, and interpersonal domains.
  • A collaborative team player with a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Assessment of qualifications and competencies may involve oral presentations, interviews, and reference checks.
