Course Overview:

Responsibilities:

  • Course Preparation and Outline in accordance with Program requirements
  • Lesson / Lecture preparation
  • Attendance Management
  • Teaching
  • Tracking progress of students studying through different modes both in class and through alternate delivery
  • Student Contact
  • Participation in teacherstudent events, activities, staff meetings and graduation ceremony
  • Preparation and invigilation of examinations
  • Marking and grading
  • Maintenance of class Nexus pages
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • TESL or CELTA required
  • Minimum of 800 hours of experience in teaching the following:
  • intermediate and advanced level pronunciation in communicative practice
- segmental and supra segmental in English pronunciation
- creating/teaching intermediate and advanced level conversational functions

  • Knowledge of trends and approaches in pronunciation teaching
  • Experience incorporating technology in teaching
  • Experience teaching English as an additional or foreign language to adults
  • Ability to design and balance course content through a combination of student interest and key topics
  • Ability to engage students whether they are in class or through alternate delivery
  • Familiarity with different English accents
  • Ability to foster confidence and independent learning in learners
  • Ability to adapt tasks and lessons to meet the diverse goals of the students.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiating, and conflictresolution skills to deal effectively with a wide variety of situations
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and issues of a diverse student body
  • Varied teaching experience considered an asset (in terms of skill, level, demographic, and location)
  • Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with online tools and resources for teaching.
  • Knowledge of a language additional to English considered an asset
