What we are offering:

***: MasTec Canada is currently accepting resumes for an Industrial Sandblaster from Grand Prairie and surrounding areas to join Coatings team within its Oil and Gas Division.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepping materials for sandblasting or coating, including removing previous paint surfaces
  • Abrades surfaces of metal or hardcomposition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasiveblasting equipment
  • Shovels or pours abrasives, such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper
  • Masks specified areas of object to protect from abrading action
  • Other duties as required

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with industrial sandblasting
  • Experience with oilfield services is required
  • Knowledge of general pipeline construction both composite & steel would be an asset
  • High school education preferred
  • Standard first aid certification
  • H2S Alive
  • WHIMIS
  • Turnaround experience is considered an asset
  • NACE Certificate is considered an asset
  • OSSA Confined Space is considered an asset

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the daytoday delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for promoting and living out MasTec Canada's 6 Core Values
  • Operate and maintain sandblasting and coating equipment to job specifications associated with sanding, substrate surface preparation, and abrasive blasting
  • Familiar with pipeline abrasive blasting and coatings processes
  • Ability to identify and report hazards
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required
  • Ambitious, proactive, highenergy, positive attitude and a team player
