Youth Outreach/Youth Justice Worker
The Youth Outreach/Justice Worker provides opportunities for healthy personal and social connections and development for youth.

The Youth Outreach Worker will engage youth in programming and activities as per a developed youth program plan, creating a positive atmosphere that promotes healthy lifestyle, self-esteem, with the focus on holistic approach of contacts, advocacy, prevention, and intervention.

There is a youth justice component included in this position, when referrals are received to provide supervision to youth who are required to complete community work service hours as a condition of a court order.

This position reports to the Team Leader and will support the various youth center programs. Duties include leading and planning recreational activities, crafts, meal preparation, and facilitation of psychoeducational and life skills workshops.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, criminology or other related science field.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Minimum 4 years of work experience in the social service sector is required
  • Human development and proven ability to work with vulnerable youth and families
  • Facilitation of life skills training and reinforcement of positive peer relationships
  • Intervention techniques involving issues of physical or sexual abuse, and substance use
  • Interpersonal counselling/mediation; working together with community partners and program staff e

therapists, social workers and other related staff

  • Development and implementation of recreational sport activities
  • Excellent oral and written communications and timemanagement

Other requirements:

Police Information Check with vulnerable populations enhancement, Valid Class 5 BC drivers' license, and Drivers Abstract.

Hours of work: 32 hours; 4 days per week

Hourly Pay rate:
$26.53 with benefits after three months
