Canada's National Ballet School is currently inviting applications for the full-time, permanent position of Talent Management Specialist.

Under the leadership of the Human Resources Manager, the Talent Management Specialist will contribute to the short and long term planning and execution of the HR strategy at Canada's National Ballet School (NBS); provide leadership and expertise in the design, implementation and ongoing development of a talent management strategy, attracting, developing and retaining diverse talent.


This position offers a hybrid schedule, with the option of working remotely twice per week; flexibility in working schedule may be required to support department needs.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support efforts to understand, assess and cultivate equityinformed practices within the HR function and decision making
  • Manage full recruitment process
  • Oversee and guide NBS' talent management strategy; strengthen, standardize and publish recruitment and advancement processes through an equity lens
  • Collaborate with the EDI department in the development of programs and initiatives designed to enhance the recruitment and successful retention of employees from diverse and underrepresented identities
  • Establish and define an employee value proposition (EVP) that aligns with NBS' key strategic objectives and attracts and retains top talent; collaborate with Brand Engagement to develop a communications strategy to leverage the EVP in all recruitment tools/strategies
  • Streamline and create efficiencies with the implementation of an applicant tracking system
  • Evaluate and update employee onboarding process including the development of an employee handbook/welcome package
  • Support data collection and analysis related to HR policies, turnover and retention, exit interviews, incident reports, promotion and discipline in support of meeting strategic priorities and program/process evaluation
  • Serve as a creative and knowledgeable resource for HR colleagues and managers

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • Degree/diploma with HR focus; CHRP or TMP designation an asset
  • 35 years' experience in Human Resources with a focus on recruiting
  • An innovative mindset with the ability to contribute new and better processes
  • Dynamic and engaging facilitator with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to practice discretion and exhibit cultural competency and racial literacy
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational and time management skills adhering to schedules and deadlines
  • Versatility to undertake diverse duties and projects
  • Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now, Qualtrics and Canva
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Teams)


Successful candidates must supply Canada's National Ballet School with a Police Reference Check in accordance with the School's Child Abuse/Sexual Abuse Prevention Policy; this will be coordinated through the Human Resources Department of NBS.
