The Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLSI) is a national research facility of the University of Saskatchewan.

CLS produces very bright light to explore the nature and structure of molecules, and serves national and international users from academia, industry, and government institutions.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and commission control and data acquisition software, hardware, and instrumentation
  • Coordinate within the department and with other departments in the development, deployment, and operation of control systems
  • Support and maintain existing deployed solutions for accelerator and scientific operations
  • Create and expand software systems and tools used in the development and maintenance of scientific software
  • Work with other developers on small/medium sized projects
  • Ensure that every activity is undertaken with the highest reasonable level of safety, and actively contribute to a safe work environment

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Engineering Physics
  • Three or more years of experience in software development in a technical environment

Qualifications Considered an Asset:

  • Competency with Linux
  • Knowledge and experience in software development with C/C++ and/or Python
  • Familiarity with software tools such as integrated development environments, automated builds, source code control and issue tracking
  • Background in a research support environment
  • Experience developing distributed control systems and/or real time data acquisition systems
  • Work on embedded systems or device drivers
  • Experience operating electronic devices or measurement instruments
  • Experience with the EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) software framework

Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
