Main Duties and Responsibilities

Provides Library services to students and staff by:

  • Developing and conducting instructional classes for research skills and information literacy;
  • Providing reference services for students and faculty as needed;
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Maintains positive relationships with colleagues and other members of the College staff by:

  • Developing positive relationships with College faculty, staff and other professionals;
  • Being a positive and active participant in the Library's responsibilities;
  • Providing support and cooperative assistance to fellow professionals and College staff; and
  • Acting with professionalism and integrity at all times.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Expertise with using major research databases
  • Ability to effectively work with the various information technologies used in the Library
  • Ability to work with and contribute to a team
  • Excellent understanding of current trends in library and information science
  • Strong services commitment

Education and Experience

  • A Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLS or MLIS) from an ALAaccredited institution
  • Minimum 1year experience working as a Librarian in an academic environment
**This is a short-term, full-time (100%) position commencing March 4, 2024, and ending June 30, 2024; or until the return of the incumbent, with the possibility of extension. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Selkirk College Faculty Association Collective Agreement. The salary range is $2, $4,214.77 bi-weekly (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications and experience.
